Peanut
We were very
happy to adopt Peanut from the animal shelter as it’s a
great feeling knowing you can give an animal a chance at a
better future.
We desperately
needed a friend for our other dog Angel – my baby (pit bull
x jack russel – now just over 2 years old) as judging from
the cross you can well imagine her energy! And she was also
reliant on us for attention and with a new baby at the time
it was very hard to give her all the attention she required.
I came across
an email advertising animals at Wolfshaven animal shelter
and while the puppy we were looking at had already been
homed, I was informed of a shortlegged jack russel male (now
almost 3 years) which is exactly what we were looking for
and it turned out he was socialised and good with kids. We
brought Peanut to his new home in June 2009 and after about
a week of the 2 dogs (and the baby) getting acquainted,
everyone became best of friends.
Angel and
Peanut love playing non stop which keeps them both busy and
tires them out by the end of day, they both also love
cuddling and being comfortable – they are very much house
dogs when we home – on the couches, under the covers in bed
with us. Peanut is also our son, Jayden’s (almost 2 years
old now) best(est) friend – he is always throwing toys for
peanut to fetch and they are always running after each
other. Peanut & Angel love to play fight and because Angel
thinks she is a tiny lap dog (actually towers over peanut)
Peanut usually comes out tops, the cutest thing is that when
they don’t realise anyone is watching we will find them
snuggling together. Also when they wait for us in the
evening to get home from work – they both sit on the top
step by the gate – Peanut sits in front of Angel between her
legs, and its very sweet to see as their markings are
similar so Peanut looks like a “mini me” of Angel.

All in all we
are very happy to have Peanut as part of our family – he has
settled in fantastically and seems to be very happy. I
personally am an avid dog lover and would adopt every dog if
I could, I recommend that everyone consider adopting from
animal shelters as there are so many animals there that just
need a family that has the time and energy to give them all
the love in the world which they deserve!
