Pregnant with Potential - Lee-Ann Joubert,
Hopeful Homer
When I was pregnant I wanted to do something
useful with my maternity leave so I decided to collect blankets
for an animal shelter.
After dropping some blankets off and doing my
rounds of saying hello to each and every dog I saw this black
dog (boxer X staffie) literally bouncing off the walls - he was
all alone in the biggest enclosure and still it seemed too
small. I asked where he came from and how long he had been
there, and the lady told me he was brought there when he was 6
months old which would make him just under a year and the woman
that brought him in was ironically also pregnant. The woman at
the Shelter thought he wouldn't be a good dog for kids - if only
she could see him now. 5 other families took him and brought him
back as he was just too hyperactive. The lady then advised me
against taking him in my pregnant state...and that made me want
him even more...
Well Tyson has been with us now for almost 4 years and he is the
most magnificent animal, a big softy, I couldn't have chosen a
better dog for my kids as he would protect them with his life,
everyone that comes to visit threatens to steal him.
