Unnamed Hardship - Tracy Barrow, Hopeful
Homer

I met this little stray and abandoned dog 3
weeks ago when he was brought into my Vet. The person who
brought him in told the Vet that he had been wondering around
the neighbourhood for months and they could not stand it anymore
to see him homeless and ownerless.
He captured my heart immediately, because it broke my heart
totally when I saw the shocking state of his health.
The Vet estimated his approx age as 18yrs old, a deteriorating
heart condition, going blind and shrinking organs due to
malnutrition and probably months of being homeless .There was
also strong indication of physical and mental abuse as he curled
himself up in the corner of the cage and would cower and shake
terribly when anyone approached him to such a degree that he
could not even stand on his legs. His head was always hanging
down as if unresponsive and very afraid..
I will never know what this little doggie endured during his
lifetime, but I am so glad to have had the greatest opportunity
to spend the time that I did with him during those 3 short weeks
– he had nice fresh chicken treats everyday and enjoyed the
gentle touch of my hand on his forehead and nose and especially
to be fed with my hands.
Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly, but naturally last week
Wednesday the 16th September 2009.
Thank you most sincerely to my Vet at the Avenues Veterinary
Clinic, and to Desmond (the old pensioner) and client of Avenues
Vet for their utmost compassion and care towards him without
which those last few weeks would have been terrible.
In loving Memory and Honour of you – Nameless and Abandoned
little boy – I will never forget you, like the many that are
thrown away to die miserably alone and forgotten every single
day
May God be with you till we meet again.
